MIERUNE is a commercial company that grew out of the open-source community.
Open source does not sustain itself. To keep it alive, we support the communities at its source, and we work to maintain and grow a sustainable ecosystem with an eye to the wider world and the next generation.

Ongoing support for the QGIS development community
QGIS is an open-source desktop GIS application. Its international community, sustained by developers around the world, is an essential foundation for the software's quality and innovation. MIERUNE has supported QGIS continuously since its founding and holds voting rights in its development. We also contribute to the community's growth through training and by publishing plugins.

Ongoing support for the MapLibre development community
MapLibre is an open-source developer community behind modern web-mapping technology. MIERUNE became its first-ever sponsor in 2022 and is active as a member with voting rights in its development. We also support its adoption and growth by backing the user community, sharing practical techniques, and publishing related open-source tools.
Involvement in OSGeo Japan
Involvement in OSGeo Japan
OSGeo Japan is the Japanese chapter of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo), which promotes the adoption and growth of open-source GIS software worldwide. MIERUNE participates as a sponsor, providing funding and helping with its operations. As a Charter Member of the OSGeo Foundation, we also take part in its decision-making, contributing continuously to the growth of communities in Japan and abroad.

Partnership with and support for FOSS4G events
FOSS4G is a collective term for open-source GIS software, and conferences of the same name are held around the world. MIERUNE grew out of "FOSS4G Hokkaido," and we take an active part in — and support — FOSS4G Japan, Asia, and World events, helping to develop communities and the next generation both in Japan and internationally.

As an IT company from Hokkaido, MIERUNE works continuously to energize the local engineering community. By running study groups together with local communities, we create places to share knowledge and exchange skills, supporting the growth of Hokkaido's IT ecosystem.
